Thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund the newest community project that we are working on is Knit Stop for Kids, teaching knitting and fibre art in schools. The overall aim is to understand the difference that learning to knit makes to the children and also to develop a model that other schools can use for their own learn to knit programmes. At Wool on the Exe we sell work by talented local artists and crafters, making the shop such an inspiring place to visit.  Ken Clark is the wood turner who makes a range of products that we sell at Wool on the Exe, including his extremely popular wooden yarn bowls. It's been a lot of fun hosting this sock themed photo competition! We've seen some truly impressive sock knitting; from huge numbers of socks to intricately detailed socks, all yarn types and colours, both knit and crochet. We've heard from people who love to make socks, those who are new to sock knitting, and some very lucky people who receive lots of hand knit socks!
