Join us for this intermediate workshop where you'll learn how to crochet this beautiful and versatile shawl. Worked in our Stylecraft Batik Swirl DK or Sirdar Jewelspun Aran yarn, this shawl will fade beautifully from one colour to another as you work each row.
To be successful in the workshop, you should know how to crochet a chain and a treble stitch. Everything else will be taught on the day.
All materials, pattern and a full 200g ball of yarn are provided. You may bring your 5.0 mm/6.0 mm hook along if you like.
This workshop is led by Sam Linney

Poor Sam! One afternoon she stoically coaxed me through the pattern for the shawl. I have to say, as an ex teacher, I am a lousy student… but with her patience I got my head round what I needed to do. I feel like I frogged more than I crocheted for the first few rows (yes, I am aware that’s impossible!), but I got to the end of the shawl at home, with an even number of stitches on both sides! Thanks Sam, and the Woolie Team. Evidence attached.
Loved the session I joined in Wednesday, learning how to make a crochet shawl. My previous crochet experiences have been granny squares and a cotton face cloth, so I was expecting this to be a challenge! However, our tutor was brilliant - clear with explanations ( " like turning the page of a book" to demonstrate turning your work at the end of a row!) And patiently helping individuals when we made a mistake or lack confidence.
My shawl is not yet complete, but I'm cracking on with it, and it won't be the last one! Thank you! (Tea and biscuits were lovely too!)
A lovely couple of hours spent in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Sam is a very good, very patient teacher who demystified the Magic Ring start and Fptr abbreviation. The yarn we chose from was a delight to crochet with. I highly recommend this workshop for those who have done a bit of crochet and want to expand their skills.
I now have a go-to pattern for crochet shawls, and a new brand of yarn.
