This simple technique gives a very lovely effect, using two colours of yarn and geometric patterns. The reverse side is striped and lends a pleasing double sided nature to the fabric. Mosaic crochet is great for blankets, scarves, cushions and as a decorative border.
In this workshop, we will look at how to interpret charts and work towards producing a sample piece using chains, double and triple crochet stitches.
This is a 'next step' crochet workshop - to be successful you should know how to work the chain, double and triple crochet stitches.
This workshop is led by Sam Linney. All materials will be supplied however you're welcome to bring your own crochet hook if you'd like.

About our workshops
Our workshops are designed to be a place where you can relax, learn, and have fun! They are held at our large table at the back of the shop and are limited to 5 participants. If a workshop is full, you can ask to be put on the waiting list.
If you need to cancel your booking, we require 7 full business days to issue you a refund. After that, we will only be able to offer a refund if someone else takes your place. Also, don't forget to put your workshop in your diary! We don't have a reminder system, and are sad when folks miss a booking.
I absolutely loved this workshop - it was so exciting to actually understand both the technique & how to read the charts both of which Sam carefully explained. She made sure we each understood the importance of the chaining technique when changing yarn colour so as to carry the yarn neatly between colour changes. Once we got the hang of the technique she let us 'fly' at our own pace - that meant we each discovered any problems which Sam was then on hand to help solve & explain what had gone awry. It was such an illuminating & rewarding experience. I finished my sample at home using both the charted patterns Sam had provided in her well written workshop notes.
This technique was a bit of a challenge for me at first, not helped by the fact that I haven't used a chart to knit for a long time, and never for crochet. But thanks to Sam's patience and individual help, the penny slowly dropped. I came away confident I could finish my sample, and with plans for many projects.
Debbie was on hand to provide much needed refreshment at the break (my brother calls tea and cookies "brain food"!).
I hope there will soon be a workshop in Mosaic Crochet in the round ... count me in!
Thank you Julie! We're so glad you enjoyed the workshop :-)
