About our workshops
Our workshops are designed to be a place where you can relax, learn, and have fun! They are held at our large table at the back of the shop and are limited to 5 participants. If a workshop is full, you can ask to be put on the waiting list.
If you need to cancel your booking, we require 3 full business days to issue you a refund. After that, we will only be able to offer a refund if someone else takes your place. Also, don't forget to put your workshop in your diary! We don't have a reminder system, and are sad when folks miss a booking.
Absolutely lovely workshop, can’t recommend it enough for beginners, even if you’ve tried spinning before. Judith is a fantastic patient teacher and will help identify where you’re going wrong (if you even are) in the process of spinning. She’s so good at helping you then overcome that and get a better handle on spinning. She explains everything so well and is just so lovely to talk to. Ella is just fabulous and her shop is a treasure trove of wonderfulness for all wool lovers . 100% recommend the shop and the workshop. Am already looking to book another workshop here
I joined Judith on her spinning course today. Although I had bought a wheel last year and tried to learn via YouTube videos, it is not the same as having someone by your side. Judith bought a selection of batts for us to try ( my favourite was the Dorset Jacob) and showed us how to draft, how to join and of course, to spin. I learnt that what I thought were flaws when I had spun some batts at home was all part of the joy of spinning your own yarn.
Judith is patient and knowledgeable and I would recommend anyone who wants to learn to spin (or like myself, had tried to learn from videos) attend one of her classes.
( If Judith should do another course for intermediate spinners, I would book myself on it without hesitation)
A spur of the moment booking whilst on holiday near Crediton, but what a wonderful workshop. I had a fabulous morning learning the basic skills, trying different types of fleece and different types of wheel. Great tutor and delicious biscuits. If you have ever wanted to try spinning, do this workshop.
Thank you - I had a ball - literally - I ended up with a ball of wool!
Thank you Barbara! It was wonderful to have you with us. You're a natural spinner, so perhaps a wheel is in your future :-)
I have wanted to give spinning a try for ages but have not been brave enough to invest in a wheel of my own. So it was great to be able to give this a try with the excellent guidance and support of Judith (the tutor). By the end of the course I had a better understanding of what goes into hand spun yarn - and will never quibble at the price of a skein of hand spun ever again! Judith gently guided me through the process and I went from being totally useless to feeling confident that with a little more practice, I could actually do this! So if you are curious about spinning and want to try it out, I would definitely recommend this course.
