I have only made a simple scarf with crochet before attending Verity’s class, and I was a definitely the “bottom of the class kid” during my first course at Wool on the Exe. That said, Verity explained how to make a granny square in the most simple of terms, that I grasped the concept quite confidently. I hope she will be involved in more classes, even if that forces her up from Cornwall! I would 100% attend her classes again. Be confident, you can succeed under her tuition.
I recently attended the Granny Square Workshop run by Verity.
Absolutely chuffed to have made my first granny square and it actually was Square and not wonky.
Being new to crochet I was nervous but Verity is so patient, kind and talks you through each step.
The written handout is really helpful to follow as well.
I really enjoyed this class. Verity is an excellent teacher. She has a calm relaxing manner and readily helps you, when necessary. Her instructions are clear and she provides additional written and pictorial information to reinforce your understanding. I look forward to attending more of Verity’s crochet workshops.

Another amazing 2 hours where another crochet mystery was unlocked by Verity. Walking away after such a short time with a completed and edged square is very satisfying . Have you spent hours if not days reading books, studying you tube and find yourself frustrated and ready to give up on crochet then you are the same as I was only 3 weeks ago. Started with the learn to crochet workshops then today granny squares. Verity has taught me a whole new skill in her eloquent teaching style with handouts, clear demonstration of each new stitch and her endless patience. I will be forever thankful. Do not hesitate to book yourself on any of her tutorials and be prepared to be amazed as a work of art is created in your own hands . Great shop, fantastic ethos
Thank you for your thoughtful and generous review. We're so happy you had a good experience and hope you have many happy hours using your new skills!
An excellent workshop focused on helpful, practical teaching. Enjoyable, supportive demonstration from Verity who helps on a one to one basis. The workshops are very reasonably priced compared with others available in the area,
Wool on the Exe and Debbie deserve to be better known for their community well being work through crochet and needlework, such as the Knitstop project. Also for Neighbourworks, raising funds for local charities through knitting projects. Fantastic!!
Thank you Rachel!
