This is a workshop for anyone wanting to demystify the brioche knit stitch!

We will learn by making a small sample, first in one colour, and then using 2 contrasting colours.  There will be plenty of support offered and strategies for correcting mistakes when they happen. This will give you the skills for your first brioche project and you'll receive a simple scarf pattern so you can get started straight away!

This workshop is suitable for anyone who knows how to cast on, knit and purl. It also requires a fair amount of concentration, so not the ideal workshop for chatting with your neighbour!

We will supply the yarn for your sample project and will be using 6.0 mm DPNS or a short circular needle. If you have a favourite, please bring it along.

This workshop is led by Elizabeth Noon

Excellent Course

I like to try new things, I saw Brioche knitting being offered and thought I’d give it a whirl. Excellent tutor, with a lot of patience. The Brioche effect is stunning especially when worked in two colours. I struggled with the two colours but the tutor was very encouraging. The peaceful surroundings help me to concentrate……and also to decide what beautiful yarn I would like to get my hands on. 😀

All in all a course well worth doing. The effect is wonderful and possibilities could be endless. Hats, scarves and blankets….

Beware! Rabbit hole ahead

This was a great workshop to introduce a fabulous new technique. It was well paced and didn't overload me with too much new info too quickly. Elizabeth is a great teacher, very calm, patient and encouraging.
However, be warned you may fall in love with the squishy goodness of brioche and end up in a deep rabbit hole exploring the possibilities now available to you. Or maybe that's just me. Either way it's a fun rabbit hole so it's all good.

Knitting, not bread!

I told my friends I was going to a brioche workshop and they all expected me to bring home bread!
Instead Avril very patiently took us through the stages of knitting this lovely stitch which results in a gorgeous fabric (I think squishy is the tenchnical term). This is not what I would call an "in-front-of-the-TV" technique, as it does take concentration, but it is very satisfying to see the fabric hanging off your needles. I'm going to do some more practicing, and then I plan a few scarves.
Thank you for the instruction and encouragment, Avril, and thank you for the refreshments, Debbie.
I recommend this workshop for anyone wanting something a bit more challenging in their knitting repertoire.

Thank you Julie!

Brioche stitch

Really enjoyed this workshop. It was quite a challenge to master this knitting stitch but the result was worth the concentration needed. Avril is a very patient teacher and fantastic at sorting out mistakes. I will have a go at a project using the Brioche stitch very soon.
