Buggiflooer Beanie Knit-A-Long
Buggiflooer Beanie is the Shetland Wool Week 2023 hat, designed by Alison Rendall. The pattern has been very popular since it's release in April and we're feeling the itch to cast one on!
The design looks beautiful in every range of colours that we've seen. In a way this makes it easy to pick your colours, because you can't really go wrong! But in another way it's harder, because we want to knit all of the colours! That's why we thought it would be fun to have a knit-a-long; we each get to see how the pattern looks in all the different colours that everyone has chosen! For inspiration you can see the Ravelry page here.
Everyone is invited to join us in this knit-a-long, however, it is not a teaching course and we won't be covering any of the techniques. If you would like to learn how to knit Fair Isle then we have a fabulous workshop for that you can book here!
The pattern
The pattern is availible via the Shetland Wool Week website for just £1 and we can help with downloading and printing the pattern if required. As with most colourwork patterns you will need to be experienced with reading charts.
Yarn and colours
The pattern gives options for picking out colours. You could use just two colours, or any number up to six. One of the recommended yarns is Jamieson and Smith 2ply jumper weight. This yarn is perfect for colourwork projects, and we have a large range of colours to choose from! You could use a different 4ply yarn, we have lots of options in the shop - or check your yarn leftovers as you only need small amounts of some of the colours.
The Knit-a-long
This Knit-a-long is just for fun, with no real rules. We'll be starting with a cast-on party via Zoom on Friday 15th September 6.30pm-7.30pm. If you would like to join the Zoom invite list, please let us ener your email address in this form.
To keep in touch and share progress we will use our dedicated Facebook group and our Ravelry group, you can feel free to use either or both.
Although we're casting the project on together on Friday 15th September the real fun starts right now - let's share advice and chat about colours!
