Moving into a new year feels like a natural time to reflect, celebrate and feel grateful. Our 2025 was full of joy - with fun events, brilliant workshops, amazing creations to admire, and all the little things that make a difference every day. Our shop is so much more than just a shop: it's a real community, full of inspiration and kindness.
Our founding goal as a non-profit organisation is to give back to the community, and there are many different ways that we do this! Here's a roundup of some of the lovely things that we have achieved together over the course of last year, with thanks to everyone in our wide and wonderful community - including you!

Our lovely Outreach Coordinator, Trudi, oversees most of the community work that we do. Here's what Trudi did over 2025:
- taught five 8-week long Knit Stop courses around Exeter
- held weekly drop-in sessions for children in two local schools
- ran pompom-making session in local libraries through the summer
- promoted the benefits of knitting at events in Custom House over the summer
Trudi also organises our donations of knitted and crocheted charity items. Some items are dropped in to our local food bank and others are sent off to the charity Knit for Peace. In 2025 we distributed:
- 88 sweaters
- 43 accessories such as hats and pairs of mittens
- 79 blankets
- 26 pairs of socks
A selection of small blankets were also delivered to a local animal shelter charity.
Most of these projects are made from yarn that is donated to the shop, which we make available for local charity knitters. If you would like to find out more about either making charity items or donating yarn for these projects please let us know!

We have raised cash donations for our local food bank in various ways. Last year we raised:
- £600 from the sale of hand-knitted socks
- £500 from the sale of donated stitch marker sets
- £550 from Fix Your Stitch sessions
Jackie Millichap volunteers her time to run Fix Your Stitch which are low-cost half hour sessions providing any help or support for any fibre-craft related projects. Jackie is very multi-talented and a wonderful teacher!

In 2025 we also organised a range of individual projects. Together we:
- donated over 30 knitted boobs to the Baby Room for their breastfeeding supporters to use as a visual aid
- raised over £230 for Breast Cancer Now through our fundraiser day
- hosted a community beach picnic and a World-wide Knit in Public day event through the summer
- held a winter Make-along via Zoom with an optional gift exchange at the end

Through 2025 we continued our weekly knit/crochet night where everyone is welcome to come along with their current project for a relaxing time in the shop. These are held every Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm with an optional £1 donation to go towards a hot drink if you would like one.
Every day of every year, we strive to be an inclusive and supportive place where people feel free to come and share their projects, their creative goals and their love of crafts. We're so grateful to be here and we'd like to say a big Thank You to all of our community! Whether you bought yarn from us, attended a workshop, shared a social media post or told a friend about us; you're a part of what we do and the very reason we are here.
As we look forward to 2026 we will endeavour to continue serving our community, and this spring we're looking forward to the shop's 10th anniversary! So much to celebrate!
