Adventures in Yarn!

Debbie Judd

Welcome to the Wool on the Exe blog!

Wool on the Exe is a yarn shop in Exeter, Devon, UK run by Debbie Judd with help from Sam, Gail and Ella. Between us we have many years of expert experience in knitting and crochet to share with you!

Wool on the Exe specialises in beautiful British yarn, as well as selling fibre art accessories and artisan gifts.

Like many yarn shops, we also run regular knitting groups, and fibre art workshops for all abilities.

However, Wool on the Exe is unusual in that we are also part of a community interest company (CIC). The shop itself was established to provide a fibre art community space and to financially support our fibre-related community initiatives. Our emphasis is on personal and community well-being through the learning and sharing of fibre arts skills, including outreach work. You can read about some of these projects on our website

Every purchase form Wool on the Exe supports our community projects, which are growing and developing all the time. In addition to our work supporting fibre art and well-being in our community, we want to share our enthusiasm further, encouraging knitters world-wide. Here on the blog we will explore the benefits of knitting and fibre art, share stories from our community projects, and invite you to join our woolly adventures!

Oh, how I wish you amazing ladies would open a sub-branch in Sidmouth! I can’t always get to Exeter because my disabled hubby is often under the weather and I daren’t leave him too long but we will visit as soon as I can – your shop looks a-maz-ing! And I love the shop window – sorry the Sock window to death! I’ve created an account and I’ve asked for membership as a birthday present later this month. Money’s a bit restricted [whose isn’t?] so fingers crossed. Looking forward to meeting you although I have to say, I’m not a brilliant knitter…..but that’s another story….
