How to design an Asymmetrical Shawl-with Anniken Allis
In this class you'll learn how to design an asymmetrical triangular shawl (also called asymmetrical peaked crescent shawl). You'll learn how to shape the shawl, how to choose stitch patterns and yarns, how to chart your chosen stitch pattern, and how to write up a basic pattern that you can follow to knit your shawl.
This will be a practical class where you'll get experience in working through the elements of the shawl you want to create. You may wish to bring a knitted swatch of any stitch patterns you'd like to use but this isn't essential.
Please bring: notebook, squared paper, pen, pencil, eraser, calculator, yarn(s) you'd like to use for the shawl and suitable needles. If you have any stitch dictionaries please bring those too. The shop can provide these too.
Skills needed: Knit, purl, cast on and cast off, ability to read a basic shawl pattern.
This workshop is led by designer/author Anniken Allis
You may bring your lunch with you or we can suggest a few local places if you would like to go out at the lunch break. Tea/coffee/biscuits will be provided :-)
