Winter '23 Community Project

Thank you for your interest in our Winter '23 Community Mitten Project!

This year, we hope to dress up our window with lovely hand knit and crocheted mittens. These will then be donated to local charities to warm the hands of people in our community.

For knitters, the lovely folks at Tin Can Knits have given us permission to share their pattern, 'the world's simplest mittens', with you. It's a great pattern because it includes directions for 5 sizes (toddler, child, adult S, M and L) and 4 different yarn weights!  And, they have a brand new app that you can download to your phone or tablet that will customize the entire pattern for you. You can find it on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It's really great!

Or, you can download the pattern here 'world's simplest mittens' and print it at home. If you don't have a printer, you can stop by the shop and pick up a copy. If you're having trouble downloading the pattern, you can also find it on Ravelry here

Or, if you prefer to knit flat and seam your mittens, you may want to use this pattern for aran weight yarn or this one for chunky yarn. Again, copies can be made at the shop if you need one.

And for all those who love to crochet, our very clever Hannah has come up with a terrific pattern that you can download here! It uses UK crochet terminology and DK weight yarn.

Or, if you have a pattern you love, feel free to use it. We will have yarn available at the shop if you need it, but you're welcome to use up any yarn you've got at home. We're not fussy about colour or thickness of yarn!

Please have your mittens back to us by Saturday 4 November!

If you have any questions, please get in touch via email or give us a ring :-)

Thank you!
